CADS Planner Electric 14 new properties

CADS Planner 14 will be released in JanuaryA new CADS Planner 14 English version will be released in January 2009. At the same time the Unicode character standard will be taken into use in CADS Planner. In addition to the upgrades related to the measurements and 3D features, the new version includes plenty of functionality for Planner applications specialized for certain fields of industry.
CADS Planner 14 is a Unicode program
CADS Planner 14 is a program that uses Unicode character set. Among other things, this considerably simplifies the writing of texts in Cyrillic. Unicode is a character standard that covers the largest part of the characters used by the written languages in the world. Unicode specifies the identifying code for more than 90 000 different writing characters, i.e. it enables to present almost all characters used in the world languages.

CADS Planner Electric 14 contains comprehensive improvements both for industrial electrical design as well as building electrical design. It has been also staked on the online instructions, for example in the form of guiding videos. • Improved wiring functions• I/O functions are being diversified• Improvement of tools for information model based design• Electrotechnical calculations and quantity surveying are being renewed• Manufacturer specific new product developmentImproved wiring functionsThe Electric 14 version offers improvements especially for wiring functions. It is now easier than before to draw wirings with the help of more intelligent symbols. Wiring points have been added to the symbols that appear during wiring work, indicating the points where the wiring should be connected. Automatic ”bevelling” in intersections are now also possible. One of the new features of Electric Pro DB is a function for automatic determining of wirings within the distribution centre. The function enables to change automatically the lines with no wiring data from the whole drawing to the internal conductors of the distribution centre.
I/O functions are being diversified
The Electric 14 version presents completely updated I/O functions, which will diversify the production of I/O drawings and the management of project I/O data.
Improvement of tools for information model based design
The installation drawings application of the Electric 14 version enables to specify the products to be used in the project with a help of an easy-to-use dialogue. The dialogue specifies 2D and 3D presentations and technical specifications for the product. When a real product database (product = individual product produced by a certain manufacturer) is used for product specification, the data is naturally determined automatically on its basis. The product that is more intelligent than before is a starting point also for electrotechnical calculations and quantity surveying. It is to be noted that the use of intelligent project objects is not mandatory; the drawing can be produced, if requested, completely ”traditionally”, basing on general symbols.
Electrotechnical calculations and quantity surveying are being renewed
In CADS Planner Electric 14 version also electrotechnical calculation tools and quantity surveying functions are being renewed and diversified. We shall return in detail to this topic in autumn in connection with the product release.
Manufacturer specific new product development
With the 14 version, the co-operation with different component deliverers becomes more concrete and finds its expression in a more widely usable product library. There is an Internet link ready for use among the product symbols to ensure the connection to the product’s data sheet. This functionality is related to the Electric Pro DB product and partly also requires Sähkönumerot.fi.
