CADS Planner 14 - more efficient design
28.01.2009
CADS Planner version 14, released in January, clearly indicates Kymdata's main development principle: efficient design is achieved by field-specific applications, while the main program provides a strong base for their development. The most significant update on the main program level is the introduction of Unicode character standard, which will facilitate the use of the software e.g. in international projects. Working in 3D has also been developed and the software contains a new space object. In the field specific applications, interesting new features include a totally revised logic design module of the Electric application.
Important new basic properties:
- CADS Planner 14 is a Unicode program
- New space object
- Extended dimensioning properties
- Enhanced and faster hatching
CADS Planner 14 is a Unicode programCADS Planner 14 is a program that uses Unicode character set. Among other things, this considerably simplifies the writing of texts in Cyrillic. Unicode is a character standard that covers the largest part of the characters used by the written languages of the world. This character set has become widely used in CAD programs only recently, although e.g. Microsoft Office applications have supported it for a long time. Unicode specifies the identifying code for more than 90 000 different writing characters, i.e. it enables to present almost all characters used in the world languages. In version 14, Unicode characters, e.g. Cyrillic, can be used anywhere, including in the symbol attribute values.
New space objectIn the several Electric applications of CADS version 14 there is a new function for handling rooms with a new space object. Room is a three-dimensional area containing information about the objects that define it (like walls, windows, ceilings) and in Pro versions, also other data needed for calculating heat losses. These applications make versatile use of room data, e.g. in different calculations (heat loss, area/volume etc.) and in presenting 3D models.
Extended dimensioning propertiesDimensioning properties have been extended, thus also improving compatibility with dwg files. Examples of new properties include presentation of the ends of dimension lines as symbols (previously only arrows, lines or circles). Extension lines can be left undrawn in version 14. Both settings are determined separately for the start and end points of dimensioning. Additionally, new settings for the position and angles of dimension texts have been added.
Enhanced and faster hatchingHatching speed has been improved, especially in wireframe objects. Additionally, rotating, zooming and moving the target point in the hatching is easier than before.
