Market leading software CADS Planner Electric 14 has been extensively modernised

CADS Planner Electric - the most widely used software in electric and automation design presents in its new version 14 extensive improvements in all areas (industrial and building electrical engineering, industrial automation). New version provides better support for information model based design, electrotechnical calculation features have been extended, the Centre schemas application has been totally revised and the new PLC-functionality brings new efficiency to logic design.

Improvement of tools for information model based designIn the level drawing application of Electric version 14, the products used in the project can be easily determined through a simple dialog, where product’s 2D and 3D presentations as well as technical values are specified. The improved product intelligence is also a starting point for electrotechnical and quantity calculations as well as for exporting product information into IFC data models.
Dynamical calculation of the short circuit currentThe electrotechnical calculation features of Electric software have been revised in version 14. Now the calculation of short circuit currents considers dynamically made changes in the drawing and updates the calculations. It also notifies in case of problems in the project (e.g. excessive cable length). The function also produces voltage drop calculations and maximum length for a cable. If necessary, calculations can be performed on all project drawings simultaneously. Data can be exported into the database and from there, into Centre schemas.
Totally revised Centre schemas applicationThe Centre schemsa application of Electric software is significantly revised in version 14.Symbols have been organised into packs containing larger entities, which are however easily modified. Schemas handling has also been improved.
Improved wiring functionsIt is now easier than before to draw circuit diagrams with the help of more intelligent symbols. Wiring points have been added to the symbols that appear during the wiring work, indicating the points where the wiring should be connected. Automatic ”chamfering” in intersections is now also possible. One of the new features is a function for automatic determination of wirings inside an electrical board, which enables changing the lines without wiring data into internal wires of the electrical board from the entire drawing automatically and thus generates a wiring list.
New efficiency to logic designPLC functionality of CADS Planner Electric software is completely revised. The new user interface very much resembles the programming tools of device manufacturers in its basic functionality. Designing I/O cards, channels and wirings is efficient and drawings are automatically created in CADS with help of its drawing templates. The program also contains Excel links for transferring data in both directions. With its flexible presentation modes, the software presents an efficient and adaptable tool for logic design. Database-aided design minimizes errors, offering excellent possibilities for data exchange between HW and SW designers.
