From the beginning of this year Kymdata Oy is the member of the BuildingSMART organisation. Together with professionals of other building fields we extensively develop new features of BIM based design. Afterwards the innovative solutions are integrated into CADS Planner Electric electrical designing softwares.
BuildingSMART Alliance has developed a non-limited available data model, which makes the exchange and maintenance of important information between different softwares possible. Data scheme consists of interdisciplinary building information, which can be used during the whole information life cycle. The name of the format is Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) and it is registrated in ISO standard ISO/PAS 16739 and at the moment it is being developed to become an international standard ISO/IS 16739. IFC format was created by International Alliance for Interoperability (IAI), founded in 1995 by USA and Europe engineer and architect offices, businessmen of structural fields and software developers. From 2005 the IFC format developer is BuildingSmart International.
IFC format is being used for modelling building information –Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a process of management of virtual data range in the life cycle of the building. This is a new approach to more clear and displayed design, engineering and essential information treatment. The solution enables to concentrate the wide range of information into one datamodel, reducing the documentation and work capacity. Building information model is a database, which contains detailed information of construction project together with 3D building model.
